An individual was taken into custody, after a threatening message was reportedly sent to Eastern Pulaski Schools. That’s according to a notice school officials sent to families Friday afternoon.
The schools had been placed under a soft lockdown Friday morning, as law enforcement officials investigated the message’s credibility. Winamac Police Chief Tyler Campbell told WKVI News that all students were safe and classes took place as normal, but school officials said the soft lockdown was put in place out of an abundance of caution.
As of Friday afternoon, school officials say the lockdown has been lifted, and they credited law enforcement for their swift action. School officials stress that they “take any threatening language seriously and will act swiftly and to the furthest extent of the law.” They also encourage parents to “use this as a teachable moment.”
