With new case numbers flat or decreasing on most campuses, university leaders are turning their attention to coronavirus vaccines.

On Saturday, Boise State University administered 881 vaccinations at a mass event at ExtraMile Arena. Originally planned as an event for residential students only, Boise State made vaccinations available to any student who signed up for an appointment. All vaccination appointments and the vaccine waitlist opened within 48 hours, the university said Saturday.

All residents over the age of 16 can now sign up for vaccines — and several local health districts relaxed the age requirements last week. Those new guidelines prompted University of Idaho officials to urge students to sign up for vaccine appointments on campus or through local health care providers.

Here is this week’s campus coronavirus case roundup:

Increasing

University of Idaho. Case numbers increased, but remained modest. The U of I reported 14 new cases for a seven-day period ending March 26, compared to 11 cases the preceding week.

Positive test rates continued to decrease — in this case sharply. Only 0.4 percent of tests came back positive, compared to 2.9 percent the previous week.

College of Southern Idaho. After two weeks without cases, CSI reported two new cases on its Twin Falls campus last week. One case involved a student, the other involved an employee.

Decreasing

Brigham Young University-Idaho. A slight decrease in cases on the Rexburg campus. On Sunday, BYU-Idaho reported 19 active cases involving students and two cases involving employees, down from 22 active student cases on March 28.

Idaho State University. A sharp decrease: For the seven-day period ending Tuesday, ISU reported 13 new cases, down from 24 the previous week. Twelve of the new cases occurred on the main campus in Pocatello, and nine involved students.

ISU reported no new case clusters.

College of Eastern Idaho. Four new cases last week, three involving students and one involving an employee. CEI reported a total of six cases the previous week. CEI has reported a total of 198 cases since August.

North Idaho College. One self-reported case last week, involving a student. NIC reported a total of three cases the previous week. Since July, 306 students and employees have self-reported a positive test.

Northwest Nazarene University. No new cases last week, after NNU reported one case the previous week. The university is tracking two active cases, and three people were under stay-at-home directives Thursday.

Flat

Boise State. Twenty-four cases for the seven-day period ending Thursday, unchanged from the previous week.

Other metrics were mixed. The test positivity rate climbed to 2.0 percent, up from 1.0 percent. Five of 153 campus isolation beds were in use Friday, down from 11 the previous week.

Lewis-Clark State College. One active case reported Thursday, involving a student. Lewis-Clark reported one case the previous week. No students were in isolation housing.

The College of Idaho. One case reported last week, with one person isolating on campus. No change from the previous two weeks. The C of I has reported 111 positive tests for the school year.

College of Western Idaho. For the second straight week, CWI reported no new cases.
