COVID-19 case tally: 315,992 cases, 13,589 deaths - MarketWatch

There number of cases of COVID-19 surpassed 300,000 overnight with the tally rising to 315,992 cases and at least 13,589 deaths, according to the most recent data from the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering's Centers for Systems Science and Engineering. More than 94,176 people have recovered. In the U.S., there are now 26,747 cases and 340 deaths. In Western Europe, cases continue to rise. Spain has 28,572 cases and 1,720 deaths, Germany has 23,921 cases and 92 deaths, France has 14,485 cases and 482 deaths, and Italy has 53,578 cases and 4,825 deaths. More people have died from COVID-19 in Italy now than in China, which reported the first cases of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 late last year and which has reported a total of 3,253 deaths. Other nations with high COVID-19 rates are: South Korea, which now has 8,897 cases and 104 deaths, and Iran, which has 21,638 cases and 1,685 deaths.
