A Temple City resident has tested positive for the new coronavirus, city officials announced on Monday, March 23.
“The city continues to monitor the coronavirus pandemic and follow the latest guidance from public health officials,” Mayor Tom Chavez said in a statement. “We will update the Temple City community as more details are made available.”
Bryan Cook, a spokesperson for the city, said the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health did not disclose to city officials the patient’s gender, age or whether the individual had any underlying health conditions.
In a Monday statement, L.A. County health officials announced two more patients died from the new coronavirus. So far, seven have died, and two of them were from the San Gabriel Valley.
There are now 536 positive COVID-19 cased in the county. Roughly 80% of the cases were between the ages of 18 to 65 and 42% between the ages of 18 to 40. About 17% or 90 people have been hospitalized.
“While painfully unfortunate for our community and those around the world, we take comfort in the resilience of Temple Citians in the face of what we hope will be a very temporary situation,” Chavez said. “Together, we will get through this.”
