Bloomington Police Department arrests suspect in armed robbery case - Indiana Daily Student

The Bloomington Police Department arrested a suspect Tuesday in connection with a Nov. 15 bank robbery, according to a BPD press release posted on Facebook.

Officers responded to calls about a bank robbery around 11:50 a.m. Monday at the Old National Bank near the 4100 block of West Third Street in western Bloomington, according to the release. The bank teller told police the suspect partially revealed what she believed to be a handgun.

The officers were unable to locate the suspect initially but could identify 45-year-old Travis Tarrants’s vehicle through security camera footage. Officers found Tarrants on Tuesday in the parking lot of The Fishin Shedd on State Highway 446. Tarrants attempted to flee into his vehicle while he was being handcuffed. When Tarrants was arrested, he attempted to pull an officer’s gun out of its holster, according to the release.

Tarrants is charged with multiple felonies including armed robbery, attempted disarming of a law enforcement officer and resisting law enforcement resulting in injury, according to the release. He is awaiting trial and was booked into the Monroe County Correctional Facility.
