The University’s COVID-19 tracker reported one new case of COVID-19 on Sunday, two cases Saturday and four Friday bringing the current number of active cases to 40. Out of the 40 active cases, 26 are student cases and 14 are faculty and staff cases. There have been 1,733 total cases this spring.
Last week, the University saw an average of five new COVID-19 cases a day across the community, up from four cases the two weeks prior. For students, the weekly average last week was three cases per day — consistent with the previous week — whereas the weekly average for faculty and staff was two new cases per day, up from one case per day the two previous weeks.
The seven-day average positivity rate is currently 0.27 percent. The University administered 19 tests Sunday, and the seven-day testing average is 1,906 tests per day. It currently takes an average of 13 hours to complete a test result, and a total of 255,793 tests have been administered since Aug. 17.
Quarantine and isolation housing are currently at 1 percent occupancy each.
U.Va. Health admitted one new COVID-19 patient Sunday and currently has 28 COVID-19 positive patients in-house. The seven-day average for hospitalizations is four new hospitalizations per day.
The Blue Ridge Health District’s COVID-19 portal reported 19 new cases Monday, bringing the total number of cases in the district since last March to 14,415. There are currently 567 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in the district. Exactly 200 total fatalities have happened in the health district since the pandemic began. 24.4 percent of cases in the district are from people age 20-29.
The BRHD is currently vaccinating individuals in phases 1a and 1b, including healthcare personnel, residents of long term care facilities, essential workers, everyone 65 years and older and individuals 16-64 with high risk medical conditions. The health district is planning to open up vaccinations to Phase 1c shortly.
The University’s COVID-19 tracker updates at 4 p.m. Monday through Friday while the BRHD portal updates by 10 a.m. daily.
