Only one new COVID-19 case was found in Cattaraugus County on Sunday, marking it as the lowest daily new case total of 2021. The previous lowest daily new case total of the year was the six cases found on Feb. 20.
According to the news release from the Cattaraugus County Health Department, 4,442 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since the county began counting cases in March of last year. Of those cases, 131 are active with 12 of those cases hospitalized. A total of 87 county residents have died while 4,224 have recovered.
Healthcare workers make up 4.7% of the total cases in the county, according to the health department press release.
The county’s seven-day positivity rate was 2.5%.
The majority of the county’s COVID-19 cases have been located in the county’s southeast quadrant, where 2,541 residents have tested positive, making up 57.2% of the total case count. The northeast quadrant has the second-highest number of cases at 73,7 16.6% of the total cases. The southwest quadrant has 686 cases, 15.4% of the total count. Finally, the northwest quadrant has the lowest amount of cases at 478, 10.8% of the total. The single case found Sunday was located in the southeast quadrant, according to the news release from the health department.
New York State's Western Region
The region, which includes Cattaraugus County, had a seven-day average positivity rate of 2% on Saturday, according to the most recent update on the government website, New York Forward. More information on COVID-19 in the state is available here.
