A Medford man was jailed in a stolen vehicle case on Sunday.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 3:00 p.m. citizens reported finding a suspicious van stuck in a rut on a Bureau of Land Management Road in Quines Creek. The citizens said there was a man in the vehicle, and when they called the business whose name was listed on the van, they were told the vehicle had been stolen the previous night.
When deputies arrived, a man was lying on the ground under the van trying to jack the van out of the ditch. The man was ordered out from under the van and was placed in handcuffs.
The report said the suspect was questioned but was not forthcoming with information. A deputy spoke to the Medford officer who had taken the stolen vehicle report. He said he had taken a burglary report at the business the vehicle was owned by and said the man was likely going to be Levi Wear. The suspects identity was confirmed and Wear was transported to jail.
He was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and for possession of a stolen vehicle. Bail was set at $100,000.
