Tenet Mulan Remain Soft At Box Office

Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” remained atop another sluggish box office weekend. Deadline reports that the film brought in a further $4.7 million in North America this weekend, a 30% drop from last week’s $6.7 million.

74% of theaters are open, but those in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco remain closed. Its domestic box office haul to date is just $36.1 million. The movie had a strong debut in Japan with a very solid $4.3 million, bringing its international total to $214 million and worldwide total to $250 million.

Disney’s “Mulan” theatrical run is not doing well. The film saw a 72% drop in its second weekend in China, adding just $6.5 million to the $36.2 million local haul. The film has been battling piracy, a low reviews score and poor word of mouth. Local juggernaut “The Eight Hundred” is also dominating the marketplace and will soon pass the $430 million global haul of “Bad Boys For Life” to become the top movie worldwide of 2020.

“Mulan” has grossed an estimated $57 million through Sunday in its international box office theatrical plays.
