Denver Nuggets big man Paul Millsap got into a shoving match with Los Angeles Clippers forward Marcus Morris in Game 5.
It was the turning point of the game, as Millsap went off following the mini scuffle, helping the Nuggets win Game 5 to keep their season alive.
During his media session on Saturday, Millsap says the Clippers woke the Nuggets up. The former All-Star also admitted the team has heard the national narrative that they are a “soft” team.
Paul Millsap on what changed in the game: “They started running their mouth a little bit. It kinda woke us up.”
Said they’ve been talking all series.

The Nuggets are trying to make history by erasing their second consecutive 3-1 series deficit. Denver was down 3-1 to the Utah Jazz in the first round before rattling off three wins in a row to upset the Jazz.
For the Nuggets to take down the Clippers, Paul Millsap will likely have to turn back the clock in Game 6 and play like the guy who was an All-Star for the Atlanta Hawks. The power forward had his breakout game in Game 5, so Denver is hoping he can continue that sound play in Game 6.
Of course, Denver also has to get solid play from stars Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, the team’s two best players. The Nuggets have to continue to limit Clippers guard Lou Williams, too. The three-time Sixth Man of the Year hasn’t been himself in this series, but he can find his rhythm pretty quickly, so Denver has to be mindful of that in Game 6.
