COVID-19 case tally: 1.43 million cases, 82,220 deaths - MarketWatch

The number of cases of COVID-19 around the world rose to 1.43 million on Wednesday, while the number of fatalaties rose to 82,2201 according to aggregated data from Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering's Centers for Systems Science and Engineering. At least 301,768 people around the world have recovered from the novel coronavirus that has sickened people in 184 countries, the data show. The U.S still has the most number of cases worldwide, at 399,929 and 12,911 deaths. Another 22,539 people have recovered. In Europe, Spain has 141,942 cases and 14,045 deaths. Italy has 135,586 cases and 17,127 fatalaties, making it the highest in the world. France has overaken Germany in case numbers at 110,070 and 10.343 deaths. Germany has 107,663 cases and just 2,016 deaths. China has 82,783 cases and 3,337 deaths. The Chinese city of Wuhan, where the virus was first reported late last year, lifted travel restrictions Wednesday that had been in place since Jan. 23. Iran, another hot spot, has 62,589 cases and 3,872 deaths.
