Even sailors are sweethearts.
And anyone who has ever wanted to eat dessert, like a US Navy sailor, can now do it.
The Navy’s 1945 soft sugar cookie recipe was posted on YouTube in April by the Navy’s Historical Heritage Command as part of the “History Galley” video series.
Series moderator and public relations expert Thomas Frezza told Fox News that he began making videos during the pandemic of the new coronavirus.

“I had several different editions of the US Navy cookbook, which was in quarantine. I was looking for something to do and share with the general public,” Freza said.
“And at first everyone was cooking at home, so I took out the cookbook and actually tried some of these recipes, shared them with the general public, and saw what people thought. Would you like to make some videos that can make it? So that they can make these at home, “he added.

He said he chose the soft sugar cookie recipe, which is one of several sugar cookie recipes. Because it is “probably one of the easiest to make”.
In fact, that’s probably why Navy cooks make sugar cookies for desserts.
“I’ve heard from various culinary experts in the Navy at the time that they adopted the soft sugar cookie recipe for the same reason I did. It’s like stirring large batches. That’s what Frezza said.
Food and drink recipes to save everything in summer
Frezza not only describes recipes made from Navy cookbooks, but also makes the food itself after reducing the recipes to manageable amounts.
“They’re all like 100 potions,” Frezza said. “I don’t live in a house that can handle 100 servings, so most are calculations that shrink everything.”
For soft sugar cookies, Freza said the recipe was “actually pretty good,” but he said he would make one change.
“The recipe itself uses nutmeg, which is in a way powerful,” he said. “Maybe I’ll turn it into cinnamon or something. It’s a weaker spice than nutmeg.”

Frezza also makes apple dumplings, baked bean sandwiches, salmon cakes, bean soups, wheat griddle cakes, chocolate chip cookies, tapioca cream, stewed Frankfurt, rice pudding with raisins, and more. Frezza’s video is Naval. You can see it on the History and Heritage Command YouTube channel.
The Navy’s 1902 General Mess Manuals and Cookbooks have also been digitized and posted on the Navy’s Historical Heritage Command website.
