PEORIA (HOI) -- Peoria's newest women's clothing store has a simple mission, and the husband and wife team behind it is excited to make it happen.
"Our community deserves to have high quality merchandise at an affordable price," Co-Owner Charles Miner said.
Charles and his wife Drea own "It's Miner Things", located in the Sunbeam building just east of Bradley University on Main St.
Their business first started a year ago when they began hosting popup shops at outdoor markets during the pandemic.
Now, Drea hopes their first brick and mortar location will help them connect with the community.
"We know everybody is coming out of a pandemic so we don't want you to go broke trying to accessorize your lifestyle," Co-Owner Drea Miner said.
The Miner's say they are mainly focusing on accessories to start out and are sourcing inventory from wholesalers.
Hats, shoes and jewelry are some of the items currently on the shelves. But they plan to tailor their inventory to what their customers want in the future.
They also hope to be an example for other young minority entrepreneurs in the Peoria-area.
"Step out on faith," Charles Miner said. "Don't always let the resources be the reason why your dream can't come true."
Charles and Drea will officially cut the ribbon on their new store Wednesday.
