A year after releasing her JOYRIDE EP, Toronto singer-songwriter LOONY is back with soft thing. It features a handful of singles she’s released in the past year, including “be cool,” “raw,” “royal flush,” and “either side.”
“Mine,” sporting a guest appearance from New Orleans rapper and musician Pell, is another solid addition for soft thing. LOONY sings about a connection between her and a particular interest at night or in the wee hours. She hopes they can keep their affair on the low.
Not just an opener but a mood, “beg,” finds LOONY not willing to put herself out there for a certain someone if it’s a figment of her imagination. The choir-like background vocals and ample instrumentation make this track outstanding, even with its fleeting duration.
“I found myself re-evaluating what’s important to me. Being isolated from people makes you think more about your relationships. It’s been a hard and very strange year and in a lot of ways and I’ve been forced to be more vulnerable than I’d ever been. soft thing is symbolic of that,” shared LOONY.
This fall, LOONY will support the new EP with a mini-tour across North America. Show dates and tickets can be found here.
