Case update: Arkansas COVID-19 cases increase by 288 Wednesday - Fayetteville Flyer


The Arkansas Department of Health announced that COVID-19 cases in Arkansas increased by 288 on Wednesday.

The state removed two previously reported deaths from the toll, bringing the total number of deaths in the state as a result of the pandemic to 5,867.

Hospitalizations went up by seven, bringing the total number of Arkansans hospitalized in the state to 211. There are 50 patients on ventilators, up three from the day prior.

There are currently 2,251 cases of COVID-19 considered active in the state, which includes those that have tested positive by both PCR and antigen testing methods. The ADH dashboard currently lists 141 active cases in Washington County and 131 in Benton County.

There were 2,155 PCR tests conducted in the state and 764 antigen tests.

The new cases bring the total cumulative count in Arkansas to 344,657 since the pandemic began.

The state announced that 5,928 additional doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, bringing the total number of doses given by the state to 2,063,690. The state lists 226,748 as partially immunized, and 954,054 individuals as fully immunized.

All Arkansans ages 12 and older are currently eligible for a vaccine.

The top counties for new cases on Wednesday were Pulaski (65), Benton (27), and Saline (19).
