COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

As The Board of Education for Columbia Public Schools plans on meeting Monday evening, the case rate in the school district is increasing substantially.

That rate, which is the number of cases in the school district per 10,000 people, currently sits at 61.5 cases per 10,000.

CPS has said any number above 50 cases per 10,000 would have the district consider an online only model.

The board will meet Monday at 4:30 p.m. at the Aslin Administration Building to discuss where the district is, and if any action needs to be taken.

As of Friday, Columbia Schools would be in a hybrid model consisting of both online, and in-person learning.

The CPS case rate has been increasing steadily all week. At the beginning of the week the rate was only 39.1 cases per 10,000.

The rate made the jump above 50 on Thursday, tallying 52.1 cases per 10,000. That rate is now all the way up to 65.1 cases per 10,000.

Columbia Schools has a COVID-19 14 day rate per 10,000 people available on their website.
