Consumer demand for fresh, locally-grown berries has never been higher, and many greenhouse operators in Canada and throughout North America have recently been seen switching crops to grow fresh berries to supply local markets.
In response to these growers’ requests, and wanting to support consumers’ access to locally-grown fresh food, ecoation is now offering its data digitization platform to strawberry and blueberry growers, with growers in Canada and Mexico already using the platform in their farms to digitize their IPM programs. The platform will also allow these growers to monitor crop work, as well as capture fruit count and store the data securely for analysis.
Ecoation is well known for its data digitization work for greenhouse crops such as tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers, with deployments of its software/hardware platform in greenhouses worldwide, so it’s a natural progression that the company begins reaching other greenhouse-grown crops.
Says Founder and CEO Saber Miresmailli: “Soft fruits and berries are a natural second target for ecoation. After perfecting our solution in greenhouse vegetables and deploying it globally, it is time for us to venture into new markets and bring our platform to the exciting and expanding world of soft fruits.”
“Ecoation is always looking for new ways to help growers streamline their processes and make them more efficient,” says Mauricio Manotas, Chief Revenue Officer. “We have seen what our platform can do for greenhouse vegetable growers, in terms of managing their IPM programs, crop work and fruit count more efficiently, and now we are ready to take this technology to the soft fruit and berry growers.
