Utah investigators said Wednesday that they are not ruling anything out when it comes to Gabby Petito’s missing location.
Petito and her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, went on a cross-country road trip back in July. Petito was first reported missing on Sept. 11. Her boyfriend returned home to North Port, Florida, on Sept. 1 — 10 days before Petito was announced missing.
Her last known appearance was at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. She had reportedly spent weeks in Utah, too, visiting the Mystic Hot Springs and Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands and Arches national parks.
There was reportedly an incident in Moab between Petito and Laundrie. In fact, Moab Police Chief Bret Edge told me earlier this week that his officers responded to an incident involving the couple.
- “Our officers did respond to an incident involving Brian Laundrie and Gabrielle Petito on 12 August 2021, however, neither Brian or Gabrielle were the reporting party,” Edge said in an email to the Deseret News.
- “Officers conducted an investigation and determined that insufficient evidence existed to justify criminal charges,” he said.
The location may offer a connection to another Utah crime. Grand County Sheriff’s Office told Fox News that it was not ruling out a connection to another Utah crime case, which included a double homicide of newlywed couple Crystal Turner, 38, and Kylen Schulte, 24.
- “We’re looking at everything, I mean, anything and everything that was suspicious around that time or we’re not ruling anything out at this time,” a spokesman for the Grand County Sheriff’s Office told Fox News Wednesday. “So we’re just investigating the information as it comes in.”
Turner and Schulte were last seen on Aug. 13 at the Woody’s Tavern in Moab. They were later found dead after being shot to death five days later.
- A suspect has not been identified, a spokesman told Fox News.
- “The proximity of time and location prompted speculation that the two separate incidents may share another connection,” Fox News reports. “To be clear, there’s been no evidence the two are connected at this time.”
