UPDATE: 11:34 A.M. - The soft lockdown at Heartland has been lifted.

Doors are now open. Regular activities are resumed.

Police in Normal have determined that someone they are looking for is not in the area.

NORMAL (25News Now) - Heartland Community College in Normal is on soft lockdown.

The school says all buildings are locked and no one is allowed in.

Regular activities inside campus will continue as normal, according to a message posted on Facebook.

Employees and students inside will hear an announcement when doors will reopen.

McLean County Unit 5 spokesperson Dayna Brown confirms Normal West is on lockdown.

She says it is because of a situation in a nearby neighborhood unleated to the school.

She said the lockdown was out of abundance of caution at the direction of Normal Police.
