Rams legend Eric Dickerson says the team's new uniform is 'soft,' too close to Chargers' look - CBS Sports

On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Rams finally unveiled their new uniforms, which include a brighter color scheme as well as alterations to the team's horned logo design. As is often the case with new uniforms, the initial feedback, based on a scan of social media, was mixed amongst the team's fanbase

Eric Dickerson, a Hall of Fame running back who rushed for an NFL-record 2,105 yards as a member of the Rams in 1984, is not a fan of the team's new look. Dickerson, who currently serves as the team's vice president of business development, specially laid out what he did and -- more emphatically -- did not like about his team's new uniforms.

"I'll say this, the colors are not bad," Dickerson said during an appearance on AM570 Sports. "If you wanna change the colors, make them look brighter. The uniform's not bad.

"I just don't like the stripe around the sleeve. It's not big enough. It almost looks like a lightning bolt, like the Chargers' uniform. I don't like the stripe down the pants; I wish it was bigger. And the horn, man, it's horrible. I just feel like they really took away from the Rams' uniform. And it looks almost like the Chargers' logo. It looks like two bananas."

Dickerson, who got to see the uniforms a day before the official unveiling, shared what he told the team shortly after seeing them.

"This is football. This ain't nothing to do with surfing," he said. "This ain't nothing to do with waves. This is football. This is a man's sport. And to me, it just looks soft. It don't look like football. It don't look hard."

After the team initially teased its new uniforms earlier this offseason, Dickerson launched an effort to try to figure out an alternative uniform to the ones the Rams ultimately unveiled on Wednesday. Dickerson asked fans to offer their ideas on what the team's new uniforms and logo should look like for the upcoming season.

Despite Dickerson's efforts, the Rams decided not to change course with regard to the new uniforms. Rams CEO Kevin Demoff confirmed the team's decision to stick with their new uniforms on April 6. Demoff, as promised, read mean tweets with regard to the team's new uniforms after fans raised over $2 million for COVID-19 relief efforts.

"While it isn't always the easiest to hear, we value the commentary you have provided on the logo and colors," Demoff wrote. "We are excited about the future of our team, our brand and our stadium, but recognize we can always get better through feedback and engagement and appreciate your passion."
