Boulder County registered no additional coronavirus deaths on Saturday, but saw the tally of positive and probable cases increase by 12, for a total over 822 in the two months since the onset of the pandemic.
Data posted Saturday by Boulder County Public Health show the county’s death toll unchanged at 55, with 318 people recovered from the illness and 148 having required hospitalization.
Forty-two, or, 76.4%, of the county’s dead during the pandemic were associated with long-term care facilities.
Longmont remains the county municipality with the most positive and probable cases, with 385 and also the greatest rate of infection, at 401 people per 100,00 residents.
Lafayette has logged the county’s second highest rate of infection, at 248.7 per 100,000, and a total of 72 people testing positive or probable. Louisville is third in infection rate, at 221.9 per 100,000 residents and 47 cases.
Boulder, the county’s most populous city, has seen 217 people test positive or probable for COVID-19, at a rate of 203.8 per 100,000.
Boulder County registered its first confirmed coronavirus case March 14. Since the onset of the pandemic, the U.S. has lost about 88,500 people to the coronavirus, well more than double the next highest, with the United Kingdom recording over 34,500.
Statewide, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment on Saturday reported deaths have reached 1,192 with 3,866 people hospitalized across 60 of the state’s 64 counties, based on data collected through Friday. A total of 21,633 people have tested positive or probable, and outbreaks have been detected in 222 long-term care facilities.
Of the state’s 5.7-plus million people, 123,422 have been tested for COVID-19.
